“ATMA O JIBON”, these are Bengali words
meaning: “SPIRIT AND LIFE”. They refer to Jesus’ words reported on
the Gospel according to John:
“It
is the spirit that gives life, while the flesh is of no avail.
The
words I have spoken to you are spirit and life”
(6:
63).
A handwritten newsletter with this heading came out in 1988. Fr. Joseph
Cavagna pime, just before dying had insisted so much that something should
start…and so these “writing exercises” starter. The editor was just
a “copyist” like those of old, copying whatever he was receiving and
thus learning to write Bengali.
From paper we moved to computer work and with computer “ATMA O JIBON”
is now entering internet, but the stile and the message is the same: “write
and you will learn to read!”. Read our own life, history, God’s plan
and the wonder of his Friendly Provvidence and thus learn to write with
our life messages of hope, peace, love, joy gratitude and praise to the
living God. |
